BOYZ-TO-MEN ADVENTURE PROGRAMS

Bush Explorers Africa has designed a number of programs to enable young men who have just completed school or university to become involved in a training program which comprises a disciplined and ordered approach to life. The programs main objective is to focus on life skills, adventure based learning skills and interpersonal skills.

The young adults participating in the program will be exposed to a structured yet rigorous program which will keep them busy day in and day out. They will be exposed to structured physical training daily, active discipline, hygiene, team work, leadership skills, teambuilding initiatives and facilitation thereof, interpersonal skills, interdependence, problem solving, conflict handling and resolution, adventure skills development and task orientation and the practical execution thereof.

The outdoor adventure components, on which the program is built, will comprise the acquisition of safety and operational skills associated with river rafting, abseiling, mountain walking and climbing, kloofing/canyoneering, mountain biking, horse riding, orienteering, bush-ocean-and mountain survival (where applicable), 4x4 skills training and wilderness trailing.

During the duration of a program participants will be exposed to a delicate balance between mental, psychological and physical provocation. Workshops and theoretical sessions will be complimented by physical application and skills development in an outdoor environment. Each program will provide participants with a perspective of the following four pillars of operation - safety and judgement; leadership, teamwork and interpersonal skills; environmental awareness and 'tools of the trade' skills.

The adventure arenas in which these programs are presented include bush environments, mountain environments and coastal environments. Each arena has its own distinct operating objectives in so far as adventure skills acquisition are concerned. Bush Explorers presents a number of distinctive programs which are as follows.

Mountain bikes also form part of this program

The programs are designed on open ended itineraries, where programs may change from day to day due to weather conditions and other circumstances which may arise. Participants will however be exposed to every facet highlighted for each of the above programs. Safety is of paramount importance and at no stage will safety of an individual or the group be compromised.

The programs are designed to bridge the cultural divide and we accept participants of any race, colour or creed onto a program. The programs will accept no fewer than 12 and no more than 30 participants onto each program date scheduled. Participants are required to become involved in every facet of the program including housekeeping, cooking and hygiene.

We utilise certain guidelines and procedures to protect our participants and the environment. All instructors have extensive first aid knowledge. Accidents are infrequent, but in the event of an emergency we have laid down emergency and evacuation procedures. Teens to Dreams Adventure Programmes

Bush Explorers Africa

'Adventure - Our Forte' Your Pleasure'

TEENS-TO-DREAMS ADVENTURE PROGRAMS

Bush Explorers Africa has designed a number of programs to enable young men and women who have just completed school or university to become involved in a training program which comprises a disciplined and ordered approach to life. The programs main objective is to focus on life skills, adventure based learning skills and interpersonal skills.

The young adults participating in the program will be exposed to a structured yet rigorous program which will keep them busy day in and day out. They will be exposed to structured physical training, active discipline, hygiene, team work, leadership skills, teambuilding initiatives and facilitation thereof, interpersonal skills, interdependence, problem solving, conflict handling and resolution, adventure skills development and task orientation and the practical execution thereof.

The outdoor adventure components, on which the program is built, will comprise the acquisition of safety and operational skills associated with river rafting, abseiling, mountain walking and climbing, kloofing/canyoneering, mountain biking, horse riding, orienteering, bush-ocean-and mountain survival, 4x4 skills training and wilderness trailing.

Bush Explorers presents three distinct programs which are as follows.

The Teens-to-Dreams Adventure Program

During the course of the one week program one can expect to learn about the environment- fauna and flora, the African skies, geology and ecology; adventure based skills such as safe and effective trailing, survival skills and orienteering; adventure activities such as abseiling, river rafting and quad biking; cultural diversity; and interpersonal skills such as communication, leadership, decision making and conflict handling. A daily physical activity component is integrated into the program.

The Teens-to-Dreams Leadership Development Program

This two week program is presented in either bush , mountainside or at the coast. It is an intense program focusing on life skills, adventure based learning skills and interpersonal effectiveness skills. This program is essentially a camping excursion.

During the course of this program one can expect to learn about the environment- fauna and flora, the African skies, geology and ecology; adventure based skills such as safe and effective trailing, survival skills, orienteering and natural direction finding; and interpersonal skills such as communication, leadership and conflict handling. With each program there is a daily physical component integrated into the program.

The Teens-to-Dreams Adventure and Life Skills Development Program

This is a four week program presented in the bush and beach adventure arenas. It is an intense full time program focusing on our core curriculum of life skills, interpersonal effectiveness skills and adventure based learning skills and facilitation. The accommodation on this program ranges from under-the-stars to camping in luxury safari style tents.

During the course of the four week program one can expect to learn about the environment- fauna ( mammals, birds, reptiles, insects and amphibians) and flora, the African night skies, geology and ecology; adventure based skills such as safe and effective trailing and trekking, survival skills in the bush and along the coast, survival psychology, orienteering and natural direction finding; adventure activities such as tracking of Dangerous animals, abseiling, snorkelling, fishing, canoeing, kloofing or canyoneering, weapon handling and improvisation and 4x4 driving skills and techniques in the bush and in dunes; cultural diversity and interpersonal skills such as communication, leadership, planning, decision making and conflict handling and resolution. A daily physical activity component is integrated into the program.

Drugs ( other than those prescribed by a physician ) and alcohol are prohibited on any of our programs. Bringing them onto a program will result in the participants immediate removal from the program.
