From 4th till 8th October 2001 the 5th Eurocongress of the European Institute took place in Marburg in Germany. It was a successful meeting since 70 participants from 12 different countries (Austria, Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Great Britain, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania and Sweden) were attracted by our title: "Building up European Networks of Knowledge Transfer - Outdoor Adventure Education and Experiential Learning in Youth Exchange Programmes"

As the title shows the Institute intended (and will intend in future) to promote the building up of networks, which make it easier for youth-workers and outdoor educators to communicate and share their knowledge or to visit each other for all kinds of job shadowing or youth exchange. In seven sections: youth-work as prevention, social exclusion, disabilities, nature/sustainability, gender, immigration, and social work in and with schools the participants had the opportunity to present their work, to articulate ideas of co-operation and to develop projects, which - as we hope - will be the basis for future European networks.

At the end of the congress the seven groups reported about 27 projects which we have listed up in the Newsletter. If you have not been to the congress and if you want to join one of the projects please contact Carla Sack at sack@bsj-marburg.de, phone: +49-6421-6853314, who coordinates the projects.

We hope to see you all on the next congress which probably will take place in the Transsilvanian city of Brasov.
