La Formation Expérientielle et l' Outdoor Education ont été fondées en France en 1986 par Alain Kerjean : Hors limites-Outward Bound France, puis l'Association Apprendre par l'expérience (jeunesse, éducation, insertion, depuis 1994, partenaire du projet européen Non-Formal Education through outdoor activities 2004-2006) et Expérientiel - Outdoor Management Development (formation permanente, management, team building, depuis 1999).

L’INJEP, établissement public du Ministère de la Jeunesse et des Sports, remplit plusieurs missions auprès des professionnels de la jeunesse. Il s’adresse à tous ceux qui sont concernés par les questions de jeunesse : responsables et élus locaux, cadres associatifs, fonctionnaires de l’État, professionnels de l’animation, de l’éducation, chercheurs, étudiants. Le MIJAEC est un Mouvement tout la fois sportif et de jeunesse qui considre l'activit physique et sportive comme partie intgrante de la culture. Sa finalit premire est le traitement des Activits Physiques et Sportives (APS) par l'action et la rflexion, en privilgiant leur dimension culturelle et pour qu'elles soient un moyen original de communication entre des jeunes d'origines culturelles et linguistiques diffrentes mais aussi un moyen d'intgration sociale.
